Over the past week or so, I’ve been studying content marketing strategies and how to really hone in on what differentiates Adam Hergenrother Companies, Adam Hergenrother Training, and me in general, from other business and leadership training organizations. One word: JOY. Yes, joy. It’s been something I’ve been working on and talking about behind the scenes for the past year or so and I’m ready to take it to the streets (or at least the blogosphere).
I am on a mission to help people unleash more joy in their life and understand that joy is really all there is.
You’re going to see a lot more about joy around here as I continue to work personally on unleashing more joy in my life. I’ll share how you can navigate this modern world while staying rooted in one of the most basic human emotions – joy. It’s not easy. But man, is it it worth it.
Joy is hard to define. It’s not the same as happiness. Happiness is a fleeting emotion. I believe joy is a state of being. It’s a part of who you are and no matter what is going on in your life, something you can draw upon. Finding joy in every moment takes practice and a whole lot of surrender. Surrendering to the moment in front of you and serving that moment. There is no other. There is no past. There is no future. We can only live in, and experience, the exact moment that we are in. Now, imagine if each of those moments were full of joy. You are more in control of this then you may think! I feel a responsibility to share this with others and help others unleash the joy in their life. I’m still on the joy-journey, but I’ve come a long way. What if I could speed that up for you? That’s what I’m determined to do.
There is an interesting dichotomy in life. We can only control our inner world which can seem self-centered, but if we aren’t in a state of joy than how can you spread joy? You must put yourself together first before you can serve the moment in front of you or anyone else. Joy comes from within by focusing on your personal growth, yet the best way to feel joy is to get outside of yourself and give. It’s a constant push and pull of inward growth and outward giving. But bottom line – we have to grow to give. And what better way to grow than by unleashing joy!
Alright, let’s bring this back to your life. Think about a time when you felt that rush of joy wash over you. You’re probably smiling just remembering whatever this moment is. Here’s an example: You’re not having a great day and all of a sudden the phone rings and you just got that new job you really wanted and you are filled with joy. Where did that joy come from? The phone? Did someone inject you with joy? Nope. A material event just exceeded your expectations in life and crated a burst of happiness. But we all know that those feelings of happiness go away just as quickly as they come. But imagine if you could feel that joy all. the. time. You can. It’s already within in. It starts by letting go of your identity, what you think you want or who you think you are supposed to be. It starts by letting go the external and material. When you can let go and tap into limitless joy, anything else you accomplish in life is just a bonus. There can be a lot of “bonuses” in life, but they will mean nothing if they aren’t wrapped in joy.
Get ready to unleash joy!
